Power Outages Happen | Is Your Backup System Prepared?

Power Outages Happen | Is Your Backup System Prepared?

Power outages are becoming more and more frequent in California due to increased demand and supply shortages. Last year alone, 28.4 million utility customers were affected by California’s 25,281 blackout events. Without a backup power source like an ATS, generator, or UPS, any sudden disruption of service would bring our lives and businesses to a grinding halt. Backup systems are designed to provide us with continuous power when all else fails – but what do we do if the system itself breaks down?

Standby and uninterruptible power supply technology ensure that important functions like medical care operations, factory production lines, server rooms, and television streaming services stay online even during the toughest blackouts.

What is the status of your backup system?

In order to have standby power or backup power, it is essential to track or add a method of monitoring devices. Compared with the overall system, it is a relatively minor addition. As specialists in Schneider PME integration, APT integrates both native and non-native devices.

Our diagrams enable quick and easy identification of the generator, switchboards, and ups’, as well as tracking real-time data such as voltages, currents, and power to get an accurate state of each device. Additionally, these diagrams provide a physical layout of the circuit connections for clarity. If there is a need for more detail on any device, our default screens contain further device-specific information.

Our default screen for the generator provides crucial device statuses, including:

  • System Start
  • Coolant Temps
  • Fuel Level
  • Voltage Current Basics
  • Power Basics

The UPS’s default screen offers comprehensive data to help visualize the output, inputs, and bypasses. This allows users to quickly understand the state of their backup devices, as well as plan for maintenance scheduling. Overall, this gives our customers an edge in monitoring and managing their systems.
